One issue that every bearded Boss has run into at least once in their beard career is the dreaded beard itch. Beard itch is a hot topic in the community and many of our products have been created with this issue in mind. When it comes to relieving beard itch there are preventative measures that can be taken to set yourself, and your beard, up to be free from the ever-annoying desire to itch and scratch all day and night. In this article, we’ll dive into a few tips, recommend some products, and help save you from the pains and annoyances that come with having an itchy beard.

Set a routine.

The right beard routine plays an integral role in what it takes to have a full, soft, and itch-free beard. We take beard routines seriously at Bossman Brands and have written a handful of articles detailing what these routines might look like. No two Bosses are the same, but they all can benefit from the ideas and structure set up in our 4-Stage Beard Care Morning Routine. The cliff notes version of the article can be seen below.
  1. Clean & Prep - Bossman’s Hair, Beard, and Body Soap is your one-stop-shop for preparation and cleanliness. Yes, we make it, but there isn’t a better soap on the market for dudes who are serious about their hygiene.
  2. Repair & Condition - Bossman’s Fortify Intense Beard Conditioner is the best of its kind with carefully chosen natural oils that moisturize the beard, facial hair follicles, and pores to stimulate beard growth and thickness.
  3. Nourish & Enhance - Natural oils from Bossman’s Jelly Beard Oil moisturize hair follicles and pores to stimulate beard growth and thickness. This amplified hydration helps your beard perform at its peak as well as grow faster and thicker.
  4. Tame & Protect - As you prepare for the day ahead, the hard work you’ve put it deserves to be seen by those around you. Bossman’s Relaxing Beard Balm will help tame your beard during the rigors of the day while protecting it from the harsh conditions you may come in contact with.

Use the right products.

It might seem like a no-brainer that your beard deserves to have beard specific products on it, but surprisingly many bearded bosses wonder about using regular shampoo on beards. Regular hair shampoos can be detrimental in the fight against beard itch and often dry out the skin of the face underneath the beard. As mentioned earlier in this article, Bossman’s Hair, Beard, and Body Soap was created specifically with beards in mind and will leave those necessary natural oils where they should be... in your beard. This leads us into our next (and in our opinion most important) tip in fighting beard itch.

Understand why your beard itches.

Proper hydration is key and drinking enough water and using products like Bossman Jelly Beard Oil can help fight against an itchy beard, but it’s also important to understand WHY your “beard” is itching. Contrary to popular belief, your beard isn’t actually the thing that’s itching when you hear people talk about beard itch. The skin beneath the beard is likely dry and irritated from a lack of proper hydration. Knowing this, it is even more important to make sure you’re working your beard oil and other beard products deep into your beard and face so the hydration can get down into the hair pores and skin.

Getting rid of that nasty and annoying beard itch starts with a strong morning routine and a healthy dose of discipline. Starting off your morning with the right products and the right steps to make sure your beard (and the skin underneath it) is hydrated and healthy is crucial. Take these tips with you as you attempt to tackle one of the most hotly talked about beard issues head on.
